Sara AlRawi

Sara AlRawi

Sara’s initial exposure to traditional medicine began when she was a young girl watching her grandmother care for the whole family with fresh, seasonal and wholesome cooking, and listening to stories of how her grandmother prepared tea from herbs she collected in the market or those growing in her backyard. Her fascination and intrigue with traditional systems of medicine coupled with her studies of psychology led her to Naturopathic medicine. Sara received her naturopathic doctorate from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2004, and Masters of Public Health from the University of Michigan also in 2004, with an emphasis in Human Nutrition and Reproductive and Women’s Health.

For approximately seven years, Sara was involved with the University of Michigan Integrative Medicine, where she collaborated in clinical research focusing on the applications of Complementary, Alternative and Integrative Medicine. Sara was involved with conceptualizing several study designs and managing multi site studies. She has authored several academic papers relating to traditional and whole systems of medicine, clinical applications of medicinal herbs and acupressure. Sara is passionate about educating the community on integrative health, and has been invited to lecture at the University of Michigan schools of medicine, nursing and public health.

After practicing as a naturopath for 7 years, Sara realized she wanted to impact her clients in a more profound way. She met Dr. Lu as a patient herself, and was truly moved by his gifted ability as a healer and his humility as an individual. Sara yearned for a more comprehensive understanding of Traditional Chinese Medicine, so she began training with Dr. Lu in 2010, and joined Dr. Lu’s Nourishing Life Clinic in 2011. Later that same year, she had the opportunity to travel to China with Dr. Lu where she visited herbal farms and markets, and had hands on training in Chinese herbalism and Eastern healing methods. Under Dr. Lu’s wings, she is providing procedures using methods rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Eastern healing. Sara continues to be impassioned by Dr. Lu’s integrity and unwavering commitment to nourishing life principles, his ability to enlighten the hearts of those who seek his guidance and by his devotion to preserve and disseminate authentic traditional Chinese medicine. She proudly stands with Dr. Lu, and is humbled daily by the wisdom inherent to this ocean of knowledge. The most notable joy in Sara’s work has been embarking on this path that has become a way of life for her. Dr. Lu’s Nourishing Life clinic is truly a place of healing; one that can inspire transformation no matter the journey that leads you to Dr. Lu’s doors.
