Patrick
Patrick was introduced to Eastern medicine and into healing practices through his time as a patient of Dr. Lu. He has been under Dr. Lu’s care for the last 12 years and is now moving into the role of a practitioner. Patrick brings an intimate understanding of the patient experience along with a wealth of knowledge around self-care practices.
Prior to entering into Chinese medicine, Patrick taught in the Birmingham Public School system servicing students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The process of evaluation, goal setting, implementing interventions, and monitoring progress is paralleled between the approach in special education and our approach here at Dr. Lu’s Nourishing Life. We strive to provide our patients with specialized care while supplying the tools and understanding for them to begin taking care of themselves. Patrick has mentioned that as a patient, understanding the natural rhythms of the body through Chinese medicine helped him to adopt a lifestyle more in line with these rhythms and ultimately empowered him to better care for himself. Patrick looks forward to using his background as an educator to support others in developing a deeper understanding of Chinese medicine.
Patrick’s passion for learning more about Traditional Chinese medicine led him to move across the country to pursue his education in Acupuncture and Herbology. Patrick earned his degree from the Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College in Berkeley, CA. During his time in school, Patrick worked as a personal trainer and earned certifications as a Corrective Exercise Specialist. Patrick also has backgrounds in Yang Tai Chi Chuan and Qigong. He enjoys using his understanding of movement and the body to help support others with medicinal movement practices.
Patrick is excited to have the opportunity to return to the place where he was introduced to Chinese medicine, and we are excited to have him join the team here at Dr. Lu’s Nourishing Life.
